Instead, we see Sam participating in corporate sabotage as his own personal middle finger to the hold man and the "establishment." When Sam receives information from his father's old business partner Alan (Bruce Boxleitner) that leads them both to believe Kevin might still be alive, Sam investigates. Despite the corporate structure of Flynn Industries (Think Steve Jobs' and Bill Gates' lovechild) which allows Sam to assume control of the company upon his father's disappearance, Sam has decided he'd rather not go white-collar. Sam's father has disappeared which has left Sam to become the typical troubled kid constantly searching for answers, yet in denial because he hates the fact that his father "abandoned" him. The story follows Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) who happens to be the son of the franchise's first protagonist, Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges). "TRON: Legacy," brings back this feeling of nostalgia, even while it doesn't offer much else. Even now, I get a nostalgic kick out of watching the original film, much in the same way that I get a kick out of watching "Monster Squad." Sure, neither of these films are great in any respect, but they remind me of a time gone by that was simpler. I can still remember the feeling of being absolutely awestruck the first time I viewed TRON. Sure, the story was crap, but man did it look awesome. #Whats the rumpus movie#Then again, what would you expect? The big selling point of the original movie was the amazing visuals. Unfortunately, such is the case with "TRON: Legacy," directed by Joseph Kosinski. 3D has become a staple of mega-budget films, most of which lack any intellectual value whatsoever, but at least they look pretty. In the years since the release of the original "TRON," the art of film has come a long way. Yes, boys and girls, it was 29 years ago that audiences were first introduced to the polarizing sensation of Disney's "TRON." 28 years later (not a new Danny Boyle zombie flick) the TRON franchise is back, but was it worth the wait? I just needed some frame of reference for the year in which the TRON experience was born.
